Jubelale 2021 - Happy New Year - Thank you and bring on 2022.

The snow has just started to fall, and the ski slopes are open.  There is no question that the Christmas/New Years' week is full of “winterly” activities. Central Oregon is full of visitors, second homeowners, and our locals. Winter is truly a wonderful time in Central Oregon. We have had the pleasure of living in Central Oregon for over 20 years and visiting since the ’60s.  So many of our traditions and memories are based here in Central Oregon.  What family memories do you have?  Please share in the comments.

One business tradition we enjoy is custom framing some of the original artwork of the yearly Deschutes Brewery Jubelale artist.

Steph Littlebird ( @artnerdforever) was selected as 2021 Deschutes Brewery Jubelale artist.  Please take a moment and review an article by Smoke Signals, an independent Tribal newspaper of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.

“This year, the brewery selected Indigenous artist and Grand Ronde Tribal member Steph Littlebird for the job.

Littlebird, 37, grew up in Oregon, but currently lives in Las Vegas, Nev. She returned to Oregon in 2021 to participate in a residency program with Caldera Arts Center in Sisters. The program prioritizes selecting people of color whose artwork advances cultural and social change.

For the past 30 years, Deschutes Brewery has gathered submissions from its pool of local Bend artists. This year, Deschutes Brewery sought to expand and diversify that pool by partnering with Caldera Arts Center and Littlebird was asked to submit samples of her artwork as a former resident.”

You can see more of Steph’s artwork on her website at:  https://www.stephlittlebird.com/

Frameworks had the pleasure of framing Littlebird’s original painting. The framing is a complex yet simple triple stack that brings out the visual texture of the trees, slope and wind, and highlights of gold all while ensuring that her artwork sings.
